Lifestyle Program

Qualified diversional therapists are employed on a full-time basis to arrange and coordinate a variety of leisure lifestyle programs. Diversional therapy is a person-centred practice and recognises that leisure and recreational experiences are the right of all individuals. All leisure lifestyle programs are assessed regularly and tailored to meet resident’s needs, requests and/or capabilities.

Leisure Lifestyle Programs provide both group and individual activities. The Leisure Lifestyle Team welcome any feedback or information related to lifestyle from family and friends that can help in making a difference to their loved one’s health, wellbeing, and quality of life. Family and friends are also encouraged to attend Resident Relatives Meetings that are held once a month where a variety of issues, concerns and updates are shared and discussed. Fairmont Leisure & Recreation Monthly Programme/Calendar of events is mailed to relatives on a monthly basis and displayed around in the long-term care home. Other leisure lifestyle programs are also available for residents to further meet their needs, comfort, requests, capabilities and mood. Besides the Fairmont Leisure & Recreation Monthly Program, there are three other programs and they include:

• Sundowning/Dementia Specific Program
• Keeping Busy Program
• One-On-One Therapy Sessions

We encourage all residents to participate in all leisure lifestyle programs. However it is in no way compulsory for them to take part in the programs as we respect the resident’s individual choices and decisions.
